In the smartphone market, Realme always means taking a slightly different kind of risk. Sometimes it's an experiment with design, other times they provide charging speeds that are hard to believe. In 2026, when the line between mid-range and flagship is almost vanishing, Realme has brought their new phone—Realme 16 Pro Plus.
According to Realme’s official website, the Realme 16 Pro Plus focuses heavily on camera, battery, and premium design.
I have been using this phone as my daily driver for the last few days. Not just for writing a review—but exactly how I use my own phone. Looking at the specs gave me an idea beforehand, but after using it, I realized—some things are more important than the numbers written on paper.
Today won't be a typical technical review. Instead, I’ll talk to you just like a conversation over a cup of tea with a friend—does this phone actually give you value for your money?
1. How does it look at first sight? Does it feel premium in hand?
After opening the box and taking the phone in my hand, to be honest, the first reaction was—
“This looks quite good!”
Realme has become a bit serious about design this time. The vegan leather finish on the back of the phone looks as good as it feels to hold. It doesn’t slip like cold glass, nor does it feel cheap.
My usage experience:
Due to the curved back, the grip is good, but the phone is large—there's no way to deny that. It can be used with one hand, but you have to be a bit careful during long periods of use. The weight is well-balanced, so my hand didn’t ache even after holding it for a long time—I liked this part.
2. Display: Is there a noticeable difference?
This phone features a 6.78-inch AMOLED Curved Display with a 144Hz refresh rate. Numbers exist in many phones—the real question is, how does it feel to use?
I watched HDR videos on YouTube and even streamed Netflix at night with the lights off. The colours are not too loud, nor are they pale. The blacks are beautifully deep, especially while watching movies.
Usage in Sunlight:
I didn't have to struggle separately to see the screen even in the harsh afternoon sun. This comes in very handy in real life.
Usage at Night:
The strain on the eyes feels lower during long periods of scrolling or reading—this is noticeable.
For those who are picky about displays, this is a major plus point.

3. Camera: Is ‘Level Up’ just a marketing term?
Let me be straight—the camera is the real strength of this phone.
On the back, there is a 200MP main sensor, along with a Periscope Telephoto lens. I usually don't hype cameras much, but I was truly surprised by some of the shots here.
🔹 Zoom Performance
I took a picture of a bird sitting far away. Up to 10x zoom, the details in the picture were quite decent and didn't look blurry. There is 100x zoom for sure, but in reality, it is usable up to 40–50x—it’s better to admit that.
🔹 How are the colours?
Previously, Realme photos used to look a bit too colorful. In this phone, the colors are much more natural. The sky looks blue, but not unnaturally blue. I also liked the skin tones better than before.
🔹 Night Photography
One day, around 2 AM, I took some photos under streetlights. The way it captured the light made it look like the photos were taken in the evening. The low-light performance is truly powerful.

4. Performance: Will it get hot during gaming?
This phone has the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 (8s Gen 3 in some regions). I played PUBG New State and Genshin Impact for several hours straight.
The phone got warm, but not uncomfortably so. It was between 38–39 degrees, which is fine for this level of gaming.
One thing must be mentioned—Realme UI still comes with some unnecessary apps. I uninstalled them myself, but it can be annoying for new users.
5. Battery: How is the 7000mAh in reality?
This is where the phone truly stands out.
With normal use, I was able to run it for 2–3 days without any worry about charging. And even with heavy use, it easily lasts the whole day.
Charging?
Full charge in about half an hour with the 120W charger in the box—it's hard to believe without using it.
6. Small but important things:
* IP69K Rating: One day water accidentally spilled on the phone—no problems occurred.
* Haptic Feedback: The vibration while typing is crisp; it doesn't feel cheap.
* Speakers: The sound is loud and clear.
7. Good and Bad—Straight Talk:
The Good:
* ✔ Camera and zoom performance
* ✔ Battery backup
* ✔ Premium look and display
The Bad:
* ✖ Some unnecessary apps (bloatware)
* ✖ The phone is large
* ✖ No audio jack
8. Final Word: Should you buy it or not?
If you—
* Love taking photos
* Want long battery life
* Like a premium feel
👉 Then the Realme 16 Pro Plus is a good option for you.
And if you prefer a small phone or an absolutely clean stock Android experience, it’s better to look at other options.
My Opinion:
Realme hasn't done an experiment this time. They have made a phone that, when used, feels like it was built with careful thought.

FAQ: Realme 16 Pro Plus (Quick Answers)
1. Is the camera as good as an iPhone?

2. How long does it take to charge the 7000mAh battery?
Ans: With the 120W fast charger included in the box, the massive 7000mAh battery hits a full charge (0–100%) in just 30–35 minutes.
3. Does the phone heat up during gaming?
Ans: Thanks to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, the phone stays relatively cool, reaching only about 38–39°C during heavy gaming. It provides a smooth, lag-free experience without significant overheating.
4. What are the main drawbacks of this phone?
Ans: The three main cons are: pre-installed unnecessary apps (bloatware), the large physical size which makes one-handed use difficult, and the lack of a 3.5mm audio jack.
